Costa
Rica
is an important and stable force within Central America. Its year
round climate is moderately warm. The upper levels of the highlands,
(Cordillera de Talamanca) do
offer some cooling relief. San Jose,
a city of 275,000 is the capital. The official language is Spanish
and the currency is the Costa Rica Colon.
The total population (1999 estimate)
was 3.6 million, with approximately 171 people per square mile.
With perfect growing conditions, the country produces and then exports
large quantities of coffee and bananas. |
